International Museum Day

International Museum Day is May 18!

It’’s a great day for communities to visit and support their local museums. Here are a few of Sam & Sofia’’s favorite museums around the world!

National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, Mexico

This huge museum has an amazing collection of archaeological artifacts from many of Mexico’’s ancient cultures, such as the Mayans and Aztecs.

 

National Museum of Finland in Helsinki, Finland

This museum shares the history of Finland, and includes special exhibits just for kids in the VINTTI interactive workshop where you can learn to saddle a horse or build a log house!

The Museum of London Docklands in London, England

In a city full of famous museums, this hidden gem is a favorite of the locals! It tells the history of London with a focus on the River Thames and includes the Mudlarks Children’s Gallery.”

Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Egypt

This museum is home to thousands of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including mummies, papyrus, coins and treasures from King Tutankhamun. It is visited by 1.5 million tourists every year!
