DIY Mother’s Day Cake Topper

Nothing says Mother’s Day like a delicious cake, especially when that cake has a DIY topper made with love by the rest of the family. To make a cake with global flair, try our Japanese sponge cake or Mexican-inspired chocoflan recipe. And while the cake bakes, treat Mom like a queen and follow the instructions below to make a crown-shaped DIY cake topper.

Coloring supplies

Child-safe scissors

Glue stick

Wooden skewer

Step One

Color in the crowns. (Extra points for using Mom’s favorite colors!)

Step Two

With an adult’s help, carefully glue the crowns together with a wooden skewer sandwiched in the middle (pointy side facing down). Make sure the crowns are lined up with each other before pressing together.

Step Three

Stick the bottom of the skewer into a cake to make your mother or grandmother feel like a queen!
